Let's embrace them once more with this rather nifty special offer we have for you vinyl fans. They should be cherished and loved once again.
Although I do know someone who once used an old vinyl to eat off when they couldn't find a clean plate to use, back in the wonder years of being a student.
Oh ok, yes, it was me! And No! I don't remember what title it was.

3x Vinyl Singles for £10 or 3x Vinyl Albums for £20

News: Mugi + Mara! Is This Accidental Music?

Mugison plays 5 UK shows this week to celebrate the release of his 2nd album "Mugimama, Is This Monkey Music" which will be available in all good record stores from next Monday the 2nd May. The first 500 copies contain a special bonus DVD which contains live performances, an interview with the man himself and a Mugimentary showing how he and his family made the sleeves for Mugisons first album "Lonely Mountain"

You can catch him tomorrow night (26th April) @ Dempseys in Cardiff, Wednesday 27th @ Parker Place in Holborn, London with Tunng and Kid Carpet, Thursday 28th @ The Windmill in Brixton, London with Semi Finalists Friday 29th @ St Brides Centre, Edinburgh with Arab Strap Sunday 1st May @ The Tron Theatre, Glasgow with Arab Strap also keep your ears peeled for Mugison sessions on XFM, Resonance, 6 Music and The World Service.

Here's some nice things that the press have said about Mugison recently, including a quote from that well known chronicle of all quality electronic singer songwriters.

The Sun " Exhileratingly innovative, Mugison mixes psychedelia, electronica, spoken voice and quite a few kitchen sinks, yet still believes spooky ballads are paramount and lets organic sounds rule"

Uncut "Mugimama is magic"

Time Out "Mugimam is a canny melding of dreamy songwriting styles - redolent of Will Oldham - with a kooky electronic edge. The result is at once moving, wonderfully playful and witty"

The Independent "Mara Carlyle has been busy recording an album of covers and is preparing to release her new EP "I Blame Dido" on May 23rd. Matthew Herberts Plat Du Jour project has been completed and the Appetisers EP is schduled for release on June 13th. The album will be released on Independence Day, July 4th. For more info on this most singular of records go to www.platdujour.co.uk."

There are UK shows scheduled for the autumn and we will soon be announcing a very special show in London in June. We have another warehouse party planned at our favourite secret South London rave bunker on May 28th. For tickets email soundslike_werk@bigfoot.com or visit Sounds Of The Universe, Selectadisc or Small Fish, all of whom will have tickets from May 2nd. The first two sell out parties have seen Matthew Herbert, Jackson, George Issakidis from the Micronauts, Brooks, Ost And Kjex, Four Tet, Rob Hall from Skam, Martin fae Rubbadub and Soundslikewerk residents rock this small but perfectly formed venue to the foundations. The lineup for this next one is looking pretty special, get your tickets soon. More as it comes love The Accidentalists

News: Latest Stuff

A (very) belated happy new year to one and all. Here follows some news in three easy chunks.

RELEASES Accidental begins 2005 with two limited-edition 7 inch singles from Mugison's awesome forthcoming album, 'Mugimama, Is This Monkey Music?' The first single, 'Murr Murr/I'd Ask', is released on March 7th and 'Sad As A Truck/2 Birds' is out on March 28th. The album follows on April 25th. Next comes the second single from Brooks' 'Red Tape' album. 'Enormous Members' Club' will be released on April 18th and includes remixes by Hot Chip and Akufen plus an all-new Brooks track. Following the release of her debut album and UK tours in support of Bebel Gilberto and Willy Mason, Mara Carlyle's 'I Blame Dido' EP will be released on May 16th as a limited edition 7 inch and enhanced CD single. The CD includes the video for ‘I Blame You Not’ and Mara's cover version of Dani Siciliano's 'Walk The Line'. Meanwhile, Matthew Herbert prepares to serve up the first course of his 'Plat Du Jour' project. June 6th sees the release of a vinyl-only EP of music taken from the forthcoming (cd only). For more info on 'Plat Du Jour', go to www.platdujour.co.uk. The album should be out before the end of June. The video for Mara Carlyle's 'I Blame You Not' will shortly be up in the ‘Audio/Visual’ section of this site alongside exclusive previews of forthcoming music by Matthew Herbert, Brooks, The Soft Pink Truth, Mara Carlyle and Max de Wardener. We'll regularly be alternating these previews with mixes from artists and friends.

EVENTS/GIGS For a full list of everyone's activities, please go to the 'gigography' section of this site. Having played in Australia, Japan and America already this year, Matthew Herbert is currently busy DJing and will be performing 'Plat Du Jour' live at the Mutek Festival in Montreal. Brooks plays live at 'Fear Of Music', London on Friday 25th March while the same night Mara Carlyle plays in support of the excellent Willy Mason at The Borderline, London. Following an excellent party in December with the nice people at Werkdiscs, we have decided to embark on another night of evil ravery in our secret, south London techno bunker. 'Soundslike Werk 2' will take place on March 5th. Tickets are £10 and can be obtained by emailing soundslike_werk@bigfoot.com. We plan to do 4 of these parties in 2005 so look out for future ones. We're promoting a special solo show in London for Accidental's friend and collaborator, Arto Lindsay. This will take place at The Spitz in London on March 14th with Mara Carlyle also performing. Tickets are £8 and can be reserved from The Spitz box office on 020 7392 9032 or from www.wegottickets.com. Mugison will be confirming a European tour shortly. We can, however, already confirm live shows in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh (the latter two as part of the Triptych Festival). On 27th April he will play at Parker Place in Holborn, London and on 28th April he will perform at The Windmill in Brixton.

OTHER BITS AND PIECES Max de Wardener's session for Radio 3's ace 'Mixing It' show is being aired this week. You can hear it again here www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/listen/index.shtml. Go to the 'Mixing It' button in the 'New Music' section and enjoy. Accidental are delighted to be releasing Roisin Murphy's debut album in Japan. Produced by Matthew Herbert, we'll hopefully have a preview online soon. A 12" has already been released by Roisin's label, Echo, for the rest of the world. For more info on Roisin, please visit www.roisinmurphy.com but for those of you who don’t know, Roisin was the voice behind Moloko. That's all for now but we'll be updating this news section much more regularly from now on. There will also be a new forum on the site for us to use and abuse and the shop is imminent.

News: Phew!

We've finally got the new website done then. If you have any comments about how you think it can improve, please let us know through the message board or by emailing info@accidentalrecords.com. Thanks for coming to take a look.

Now you can [almost] buy our records in the online shop, hear a 30 minute mix from one of our artists once a month and find pictures, biographies and news about gigs and releases on all the Accidental and Soundslike artists. We will also be streaming a new video once a month, starting in December with an excerpt from Lenka Clayton's 'Qaeda, Quality, Question, Quickly Quickly, Quiet' film which Accidental has just released as a limited edition 12" and which is available through our online shop or from www.boomkat.com who are doing an exclusive run of an extra 500 copies. In the months to come, we'll be streaming videos by, amongst others, Brooks, Mara Carlyle, Matthew Herbert and Mugison.

As usual, it's been ages since the last bit of website news so there's a stack to tell. This year we've released albums by Max de Wardener, Mara Carlyle, Brooks, The Soft Pink Truth and Mugison and put on many shows and parties. In September we did a very special night at the Union Chapel in London. The 'Accidental Powercut' invited our artists to play completely acoustically and, except for the use of a couple of lapel microphones for the vocals, they pulled it off. Max de Wardener, John Matthias, Dani Siciliano and Mara Carlyle all turned in blinding performances and 300 or so people in the audience kept incredibly quiet. The MC for the night was London's official Town Crier replete with ceremonial uniform and a noisy bell. In October, Mara Carlyle did 5 dates with Bebel Gilberto around the UK and played gigs in Holland and Ireland. She'll be playing in Gateshead and London before Christmas so please check the 'Diary' section of the site if you'd like more details on all of our artists live and DJ dates.

From the very quiet to the very noisy... In November we hosted the main room at Fabric. Brooks and The Soft Pink Truth played live and Matthew and I (Raf Rundell) played records. We also did a party in London last weekend with the guys from Werkdiscs. Brooks has been to Japan twice in the last few months and has DJed in Zurich, Berlin, Madrid, Sydney and Melbourne. The Soft Pink Truth played the Paradiso in Amsterdam and a festival in Turin. Mugison, meanwhile, continued his bid for world domination by playing support to Super Furry Animals in London, at Sonar Sound in Sao Paolo, and all over his native Iceland, including a show-stopping performance at Nasa in Reykjavik for the Airwaves festival. Matthew Herbert performed the first show with his new 'Plat Du Jour' project at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London and the Pompidou Centre in Paris. 'Plat Du Jour' itself is being cooked up (sorry) in the studio and will be out sometime before the summer of 2005. For more details on the album, visit www.platdujour.co.uk. You can also hear Matthew's production work for Roisin Murphy, she of Moloko fame, on a collection of three 12"s to be released by Echo at the beginning of the next year.

We're also busy getting all other our releases ready with singles by Mara Carlyle and Brooks and a new album and single by Mugison on the way. The 'I Blame Dido EP' by Mara Carlyle will be released in March and a Brooks single with a remix from Akufen will be released soon afterwards. There's an additional Brooks single planned with remixes in the works from Beckett and Taylor and Hot Chip. Mugison's new album, 'Mugimama, Is This Monkey Music?' is ready, sounding totally awesome, and will be released in the spring. Before that, a 12" and CD single featuring music from both the new album and his soundtrack album, 'Niceland' will become available. Unfortunately, though some copies may have filtered through, a problem with the packaging on his 'Niceland' album has delayed its release in many countries. We'll keep you updated here but copies should be available very shortly. In the meantime, it's available by mail order from our online shop.

We also have plans to release singles by Zimbabwean artist, Chartwell, and The Soft Pink Truth, including, we hope, his fabulous remix of Otto Von Shirach's 'Whip me down' which should also be included on a Schematic remixes compilation next year. Max de Wardener, meanwhile, is back in the studio and currently working on a remix of Two Banks Of Four. If you haven't heard his debut album, 'Where I am today', we recommend you do.

Max's album, along with many other Accidental and Soundslike releases, is now available as a digital download at www.bleep.com and we will be expanding our digital distribution in 2005.

We are now also looking after the 'Virtu' series of compilations in Europe, with each edition released in very special packaging. The first edition included a Herbert exclusive ('24 hrs') along with tracks by Dani Siciliano, Charles Webster, Arto Lindsay, Hefner, Cinematic Orchestra, Akufen and Metro Area. The second edition arrives in 2005 and includes Colder, Grand National, Willis, Lali Puna and an unreleased Herbert remix. All the Virtu compilations will be available in our online shop.

Finally, a big thank you to everyone who sent us demo CDs in 2004. We do our very best to give feedback on everything we receive though a lack of time sometimes means it takes a long time or, occasionally, a CD may slip through the net. Please continue to send us music you think might be suitable to the address at the top of the website.
